Anosmia - Loss of Smell
A loss of smell is known as anosmia. It can be caused by many things, including COVID-19
Smell
- Anosmia is the temporary or permanent loss of smell
- Cacosmia is the perception of a bad smell
- Dysosmia is a noticed difference in the quality of an odour or smelling things that are not there
- Hyperosmia is a heightened and hypersensitive sense of smell
- Hyposmia is a reduced ability to smell and to detect odours
- Microsmia is a reduced ability to smell and to detect odours
- Parosmia is a change in smell
- Phantosmia is when you smell odours that aren’t actually present
- Torquosmia is the perception of a chemical, burning or metallic smell
Taste
- Ageusia is the temporary or permanent loss of taste
- Cacoguesia is the perception of a bad taste
- Dysgeusia is where the perception of taste is altered
- Hypergeusia is a heightened and hypersensitive sense of taste
- Hypogeusia is a reduced ability to taste
- Parageusia is a change in the ability to taste
- Torqugeusia is the perception of a chemical, burning or metallic taste
